چکیده

Background In patients with congenital heart defects, restoration of the connection between the right ventricle (RV) and the pulmonary artery (PA) by surgical or percutaneous valved conduit implantation is a common procedure. Flow characteristics in such conduits are complex, therefore the aim of this study was demonstrating the potential application of 4D MRI flow for the comprehensive assessment of pulmonary flow patterns after surgical and percutaneous RV-PA valved conduit implantation.

Differences in pulmonary flow patterns between surgical and percutaneous implanted bovine valves to restore the right ventricle outflow tract continuity: a four dimensional flow magnetic resonance study

Background In patients with congenital heart defects, restoration of the right ventricle outflow tract (RVOT) continuity by surgical or percutaneous bovine valve implantation is a common procedure. Flow characteristics in such valves are complex, therefore the aim of this study was demonstrating the potential application of 4D MRI flow for the comprehensive assessment of pulmonary flow patterns...

Transcatheter Implantation of a Bovine Valve in Pulmonary Position

Background—Pulmonary regurgitation can lead to severe right ventricular dysfunction, which is a delicate postoperative problem in the long-term follow-up of patients who had surgery for congenital heart diseases. Clinical conditions of patients suffering from pulmonary valve incompetence are improved by valve replacement with a prosthetic valve. To date, the surgical approach is the only option...

Right ventricular Hemodynamic Alteration after Pulmonary Valve Replacement in Children with Congenital Heart Disease

Introduction:  In patients who underwent surgery to repair Tetralogy of Fallot, right ventricular dilation from pulmonary regurgitation may be result in right ventricular failure, arrhythmias and cardiac arrest. Hence, pulmonary valve replacement may be necessary to reduce right ventricular volume overload. The aim of present study was to assess the effects of pulmonary valve replacement on rig...

Pediatric Cardiology Percutaneous Insertion of the Pulmonary Valve

OBJECTIVES We report our experience of percutaneous valve insertion in pulmonary position in humans. BACKGROUND Over the past 40 years, prosthetic conduits have been developed to surgically establish continuity between the right ventricle and the pulmonary artery. However, stenosis and insufficiency of the conduit due to valvular degeneration or panus ingrowth frequently occur, limiting patient...
